Batasan-San Mateo Road Checkpoint Causes Massive Traffic Congestion Among Motorists

The checkpoint along Batasan-San Mateo Road has caused a massive traffic congestions due to heightened restrictions.

On Monday (August 2, 2021), the police authorities launched a checkpoint at along Batasan-San Mateo Road, which caused a massive traffic congestion especially to the employees who were not able to get a work-from-home arrangement.

The checkpoint personnel is checking the identification cards, certificates of employment and asking for the destinations of travelers. The cops are also checking random vehicles and apprehending individuals with no valid reason to travel.

The cops also prohibits travelers with company of minors to travel. Only authorized persons outside residence (APOR) were allowed to pass at the quarantine control points.

The new measure also caused confusion to the residents after the Department of the Interior and Local Government said that the checkpoints will be placed at the border of NCR Plus bubble including Bulacan, Pampanga, Cavite and Batangas.

DILG said that no travel restriction should be done within NCR Plus since it was still under General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions. The agency also reminded the cops to allow the free movement of cargo or delivery vehicles.
