10-Year-Old Student Becomes Young Entrepreneur to Help Her Family
A 10-year-old student becomes a young entrepreneur and starts a business to help her family and support her own education.
At an age when most children are focused on school and play, 10-year-old Jhesie Mae has already learned the value of hard work and responsibility. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, she has been helping her family while also finding ways to support her own education.
Jhesie is the eldest among four siblings. Despite her young age, she understands the challenges her family faces and does her best to contribute in her own way. Her determination has inspired many people in her community.
Every day, Jhesie wakes up as early as 6:00 in the morning to join her uncle in selling pandesal around their barangay. While other children are still preparing for the day, she is already helping customers and learning valuable lessons about earning money through honest work.
Her daily earnings usually range from P20 to P50. Although the amount may seem small, Jhesie makes it a habit to set aside part of her earnings for savings. She often keeps around P5 to P10 each day, believing that even a small amount can grow over time if managed wisely.
Jhesie has already helped her family in meaningful ways. The money she saved contributed to improvements in their home and also helped in purchasing a cellphone that she uses for her studies.
Beyond helping her family, Jhesie also dreams of becoming a successful entrepreneur someday. She hopes to open her own restaurant in the future and serve different kinds of dishes, including her favorite meal, adobo.
