PAGASA: ITCZ to Affect Mindanao, Hot Weather Expected Over Rest of PH

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Tuesday (May 18)

The state weather bureau PAGASA said that the ITCZ would affect the weather condition in Mindanao while the rest of the country would have a hot and humid weather.

On Tuesday (May 18, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather condition in the country. The easterlies and Intertropical Convergence Zone would affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the easterlies would bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Abra, Benguet Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.

Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon would also experience the same weather condition due to the effects of easterlies and Intertropical Convergence Zone.

The weather agency said that the entire country would experience hot and humid weather condition aside from isolated rainshowers in the afternoon.

“Patuloy nating mararanasan ang mainit at maalinsangang panahon. Subalit pagdating ng hapon at gabi, posible pa rin ang pagkakaroon natin ng pulo-pulong pag-ulan at pagkidlat at kulob,” said Pagasa weather specialist Meno Mendoza said.

PAGASA said that the heat index in Metro Manila and its nearby area may increase to 39 degree Celsius. Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the entire country would be slight to moderate.
