Cesar Montano is not saying goodbye to his showbiz career
Multi-awarded actor Cesar Montano said that retiring from show business is a “no-no” for him.
Cesar has been active in showbiz since the 1980s. Throughout the years, he has showcased his acting caliber with a variety of roles in movies and TV shows.
After several decades in his career, the actor still has the same passion. He is now 63 years old, but has no plan to retire.
Cesar Montano vocally expressed in a recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, based on the article in The Philippine Star, that he has no plan on bidding goodbye to the entertainment industry.
“No, I am not thinking of retiring because when you retire, you stop doing the things you love to do,” the veteran actor. He said that making movies is really close to his heart, and he loves doing films.
Cesar also revealed that he is cooking something. “Actually, we are working on a story we are about to pitch soon. It makes my everyday life more exciting because of it, so it’s a no-no for me to retire,” the veteran actor said.
With his career spanning four decades, Cesar has repeatedly proven his excellence in portraying various characters. From his first two movies, “Kasalanan ang Buhayin Ka” and “Machete,” released in 1990, he has since then captured the hearts of movie critics and has received recognition and awards from different award-giving bodies.
He also had several remarkable portrayals, such as Jose Rizal in Marilou Diaz-Abaya’s historical drama film, “Jose Rizal.” This movie was an official entry in the 1998 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), and it received 17 awards.
Cesar Montano was also known as Fredo, the ruthless fishing boat captain in the movie “Muro-ami,” which was also directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya. This was also an entry in the 1999 Metro Manila Film Festival under GMA Pictures, and has received 13 awards, including Best Picture.
Cesar also expressed happiness that people can now watch a digitally remastered re-release of “Muro-ami.” “Parang nanonood ako ng bagong pelikula. Ito po (ngayon) ‘yung digitally remastered,” the multi-awarded actor said.
