Last May 11, the House of Representatives impeached Vice Pres. Sara Duterte for the second time around. Shortly prior to it, a change in leadership took place after former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto was ousted from the chamber’s lead and replaced with now-former SP Alan Peter Cayetano.

Sotto believes that his ouster is possibly related to the possible impeachment trial of Duterte. He has always been vocal of his pursuit to conduct it.

Recently, after a series of unexpected incidents in the Senate amid the looming impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Sen. Erwin Tulfo said the senators are set to talk about the matter before the trial officially commences.

Based on a report on News5, Sen. Erwin Tulfo called on his fellow lawmakers including the minority bloc to attend the caucus over the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. He stressed that the lawmakers should be in the same page.

“We’re waiting pati ‘yung minority. All senators kaya mananawagan ako sa mga kasamahan ko, pati sa minority, pasok na ho kayo para pag-usapan natin itong impeachment on Monday para same page tayo,” Tulfo said.

Based on the report, Sen. Erwin Tulfo said the senators should be united on what to do in the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. He stressed that they might have different opinions about it but they should all be in the same page.

“Kailangan kaisa ho tayo kung ano ang gagawin natin,” he said.

According to Sen. Erwin Tulfo, part of those that they will talk about is who’s going to be the presiding offer. During the interview, he expressed that the majority bloc wants the minority bloc to attend the discussion over the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.

“Kahit na magkaiba ‘yung opinion namin, different opinions, pero dapat nasa same page kaming lahat. Minority. Majority. That is why they’re calling this caucus,” Tulfo added.

Previously, there were claims that Sen. Chiz Escudero will preside the impeachment court but it was clarified that it’s not yet final. Amid the claims about the possibility of Escudero presiding the impeachment court, Sen. Robin Padilla claimed that they will oppose if Escudero will preside the impeachment court as it must allegedly be Senate Pres. Sherwin Gatchalian.
