Classes Suspended After Several Students Experience Distressing Episode at Palawan High School

On Friday, July 3, 2026, classes at Canipaan National High School in Rizal, Palawan were suspended after several students reportedly experienced a disturbing episode that caused fear and concern among classmates, teachers, and parents.
Initial reports stated that as many as 13 students were affected during the incident. According to local officials, the students suddenly began crying, shouting, trembling, and struggling to control their movements.

Barangay officials said some of the affected students were brought to the barangay hall, gymnasium, and health center for assistance, while others remained within the school grounds as they were being attended to.
Witnesses reported that the students appeared distressed and were saying words that those around them could not understand.
The incident caused anxiety among other students, prompting school authorities to cancel classes for the day. Parents also became concerned after hearing about the alleged possession, leading many to immediately fetch their children from school.
Local officials explained that the affected students did not experience the episode all at the same time.
Instead, the cases occurred one after another throughout the morning. Some residents described the students as showing unusual strength, making it difficult for those helping them to keep them calm and safe.
Barangay Chairman Abdurajik Julhan Maulaha said similar incidents had reportedly occurred in the area before. Because of the latest event, teachers planned to hold a meeting to discuss possible steps to address concerns within the school community. There were also discussions about conducting a blessing or prayer service at the campus.
Officials reported that the students involved were already in stable condition.
