Brazil Faces “Worst Moment of the Pandemic” Now

BRAZIL – The South American country recorded over 2,000 death cases of COVID-19 in just 24 hours.

A lot of countries and territories across the globe are still struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic now. Many nations keep on recording high cases of the coronavirus disease daily.

The COVID-19 was declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as pandemic shortly after China recorded cases of the disease in December 2019. Beginning 2020, several countries and territories across the globe logged their first cases of the disease.

According to World Health, the fight against the pandemic may be a long-term battle. Even WHO was alarmed by how fast the infection spread. It advised countries not to let their guards down early to prevent another wave of the disease.

Brazil COVID-19 Pandemic

Although the seniors and those who are immuno-compromised are known to be more prone to contracting the disease, it does not exempt anyone. Several cases proved that even the younger individuals can contract and die from it.

One of the countries that is currently facing the worst times in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is Brazil. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the South American country has recently recorded 2,286 deaths due to the disease in just 24 hours.

“We’re at the worst moment of the pandemic in Brazil. The transmission rate with these new variants is making the epidemic even worse,” Dr. Margareth Dalcolmo said.

Based on the report, the recent COVID-19 deaths brought the total death toll in Brazil to 270,656 deaths. On Wednesday, it recorded 80,000 infections.

According to Dr. Dalcolmo, “2021 is still going to be a very hard year”. Brazil is struggling to procure COVID-19 vaccines, too. It has 212 million people.
