Bong Go Plans To File A Bill Seeking To Establish More Quarantine Facilities In PH To Contain COVID-19 Threat

COVID-19 – Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go wants to put more quarantine facilities to contain COVID-19 threat and infectious diseases in the future.

The Philippine is one of the countries that are most vulnerable to the Wuhan virus or COVID-19 said the London-based Overseas Development Institute. The virus has caused the death of over 1300 people and sickened tens of thousands of people worldwide.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez said the deadly virus from China have already affected the travel and tourism in the Philippines. Several tourist spots temporarily stopped their tourism activities.

For this, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte encouraged the Filipinos to travel with him around the country. It’s his way of assuring the people that the country is still safe for travelers.

The 74-year-old chief executive also said that airlines and hotel accommodations have agreed to lower their rates. “Maraming magagandang mapuntahan sa Pilipinas, wala kayong dapat alalahanin. Itong mga hoteliers at itong mga carriers they have agreed to lower the rates so that we can be a viable market for the Philippines,” he said.

Based on a report from Inquirer, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go is planning to file a bill seeking to build more quarantine facilities in the Philippines to prepare for a possible virus threat in the future. He believed that his plan will stop finger-pointing in times of crisis.   

“I’m planning to file a bill na maglalagay tayo ng separate quarantine facilities. Paghahanda ito hindi lang sa posibleng pagkalat ng [COVID-19]. Kung saka-sakaling meron pang dumating ay handa na po tayo at hindi na po tayo magtuturuan sa ibang lugar…”

“At para magkaroon na rin po ng peace of mind ang bawat isang mamamayan natin sa kanya-kanyang lugar,” he added.

According to the report, the repatriated Pinoys from Wuhan City are now quarantined at the Athletes’ Village in New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.
