Around 73 barangays in Manila received P100,000 cash incentives for having no COVID-19 cases for two months.

Last August 2020, Mayor Francisco ā€œIsko Morenoā€ Domagaso announced that barangays in the City of Manila with no infections for two months (September 1 ā€“ October 3, 2020). The announcement has been due to the increasing numbers of infection over the past few months.

Moreno said that the incentive-based program aims to reduce and control the cases of coronavirus disease in the city. The pandemic has already infected millions of people worldwide and even took thousands of lives.

Recently, the Facebook page ā€œABS-CBN Newsā€ has shared the photos of barangay officials receiving certificates and incentives for having no COVID-19 cases. The photos earned various reactions online.

73 barangays in Manila City received P100,000 cash incentives each after successfully maintaining zero cases of COVID-19 for the months of September and October. The Manila Health Department verified all the COVID-19 data in the barangays.

The local officials received a certificate of recognition for being a COVID-19 free barangay.
