Negros Occidental, Himamaylan City Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson Jr. Removes Border Checkpoints Against COVID-19

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – Himamaylan City Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson Jr. has ordered the removal of border checkpoints.

On Saturday (November 7, 2020), Himamaylan City Mayor removed the border checkpoints in the city but reminded the public to follow the health protocols to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus.

Tongson said that residents who want to enter the city must first notify their barangay officials for a free swab test. The city government would place those residents in a quarantine facility while waiting for the results.

If a person tests positive for the disease, the patient is require to remain at the quarantine facility and wait until authorities ordered release. The mayor also tasked barangay officials to inform purok presidents upon the arrival of returnees or visitors.

The city mayor also said that people who will return to Himamaylan City during the rest days and weekend must remain inside their homes to ensure the safety of other residents in the community.

Returnees are not allowed to go out from their residences except for those who will report work or heading to other municipalities.
