Quarantine Violator Gets Injured After Attacking Cop During Apprehension at Checkpoint
SAN CARLOS, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – A quarantine violator reportedly attacked a cop during apprehension at a checkpoint prompting other police to shoot him.
A local enforcement team member named Rolly Paalisbo apprehended the 34-year-old suspect at a checkpoint for allegedly violating the quarantine order at Barangay 5, San Carlos City in Negros Occidental.
The unnamed suspect reportedly attacked and hit Paalisbo with hacksaw during the apprehension. Police Cpl. Allyn Estrao immediately responded and shoots the violator on his feet.
According to Police Maj. Mark Anthony Junco, chief of San Carlos City Police, the suspect allegedly attempted to attack Estrao. The cop has no choice but to shoot the suspect to prevent him from making further trouble.
The suspect is now under hospital arrest and would charges of assault upon an agent of person in authority.
However, the quarantine violator’s family explained that the suspect has a mental disorder and he might forget to take his medicine that day.
