Police Manning Checkpoint in Kabankalan Stabbed by Man Who was Accosted
KABANKALAN CITY – a police officer manning in quarantine checkpoint was stabbed by a man who was accosted after committing a violation.
Since the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) was implemented throughout the country, the Philippine government also place quarantine and border checkpoint the prevent the rapid spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Most people who defy and getting accosted in the checkpoint are drunk or intoxicated with alcohol. Intense commotion prompted because accosted persons get arrogant and disrespect law enforcers.
Meanwhile, a city police officer manning a quarantine checkpoint at Kabankalan City was wounded Monday morning. The victim was identified as Police Staff Sgt. John Perez assigned to Barangay Talubangi border control checkpoint.
According to the Kabankalan police, the man was accosted the quarantine checkpoint after caught carrying a broken bottle of liquor. But instead of explaining, the suspect smashed the bottle and stabbed the victim resulting him being wounded.
Perez was immediately taken to the hospital with injuries to his stomach and other parts of the body. The suspect is set to face a frustrated homicide case now in the custody of Kabankalan police.
