DepEd announces when the Php 3,500.00 worth of teachers cash allowance is going to be released.
TEACHERS CASH ALLOWANCE – The Department of Education (DepEd) announcement about the Php 3,500.00 worth of allowance for teachers.
The class opening for school year 2020-2021 will be on August 24, 2020. The postponement is due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic. And for the teaching supplies and materials for teachers this upcoming academic year, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced releasing of cash allowance.
The teachers’ cash allowance is worth Php 3,500.00 which will be released this June as per May 4 memorandum signed by Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla. The DepEd Central Office is also set to release another guidelines regarding the allowance to be used for “teaching supplies and materials related to the preparations to shift to the Learning Continuity Plan (LCP)” as per ABS-CBN report.
Meanwhile, amid this time of pandemic, DepEd is prepared to release the 13th month pay of the public school teachers by May 15 based on a previous report. This is on their top cash assistance for teachers and other staff in coping up with the consequences of coronavirus.
Also, the education department previously urged the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) to also release cash assistance to teachers of private schools. The education sector in the country is one of the highly affected sectors due to the pandemic.
Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (Cocopea) reported that hundred thousands of public school employees are affected by the “no work, no pay” policy and they earn less than the minimum wage. Classes in the entire country got suspended last March.
