JUST IN: IATF Prohibits Religious & Work Gatherings Under GCQ

IATF Changes Position on Religious & Work Gatherings in GCQ Areas

IATF – The Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 prohibits religious and work gatherings in areas under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines, several areas are under an extended Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) now. These areas are the ones considered as high-risk for the infection.

Currently, there is a total of 8,488 cases of coronavirus recorded in the country. According to the Department of Health (DOH), 568 of these patients died while 1,043 have already recovered.

For low and medium risk areas, the National Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 recommended to implement the General Community Quarantine (GCQ). It is a step lower than ECQ.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte accepted and approved the recommendation of the task force. Several provinces, cities, and municipalities in the country now are starting their first day under GCQ.

The GCQ is until May 15. Initially, religious gatherings will be allowed under it. However, numerous complaints crossed the surface over it.

Based on a recent post on Manila Bulletin, the IATF has decided to prohibit religious gatherings in areas under the GCQ. Also, work gatherings are prohibited.

As of this writing, there are still no further information over the decision of the task force. More updates may be posted soon.
