Update on DepEd Class Opening for Next School Year

DEPED – The Department of Education announced the date of class opening for the next school year, 2020-2021.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Philippines, class suspensions were previously implemented for the safety of the students. Currently, over 9,000 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the country.

The entire Luzon and most provinces in Visayas and Mindanao were placed under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to curb the spread of the infection. Several measures were implemented to prevent the crowd and everyone is advised to exhibit social distancing.

Now, some places are already under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) and starting to adjust with the “new normal”. High-risk areas remain to be under the ECQ until May 15.

Amid the outbreak of coronavirus in the Philippines, many people are curious with regards to the opening of classes for the next school year. The Department of Education (DepEd) studied the trend.

Usually, classes start in June in the Philippines. Graduation ceremonies and closing exercises usually happen in March or April.

Recently, DepEd released an update regarding the date of the opening of classes for the school year 2020-2021. Based on a recent post of ABS-CBN News, the Department said that classes will open on August 24, 2020.

As of this writing, there are still no further information yet regarding the matter. More updates may be posted soon.
