While the caravan was in Talisay City, supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo threw flyers at Bongbong Marcos. Regarding this incident, Mayor Neil Lizares said that this “rude behavior is not and will never be acceptable.”

The Mayor also said that Talisay City does not tolerate this kind of action and he assures the public that necessary actions will be done after proper investigation. “We hope that you understand that while we made sure that the caravan will go on smoothly, the acts of the people who attended the caravan are beyond our control,” the mayor said.

Lizares also stressed that people in Negros know that Talisaynons are “generally peace-loving people.” He acknowledges the fact that people have different political beliefs and exhibiting this should be done responsibly.

“We always believe that our right ends when the right of others begin. The action of one person does not define all Talisaynons. We cannot generalize and we have to understand where each one is coming from. But this is not to say that disrespect will be condoned,” the Mayor said.

Lizares also said that the incident is being investigated now and that they will continue to remind the Talisaynons to “always practice respect and compassion.” He also stressed that Talisay City will continue to be open for political candidates and voters, whatever color they choose to belong.
