The Filipinos are still living under a new normal. Community quarantine measures are still up in the entire Philippines with most of the country under a Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ). It is the least strict among the four (4) levels of quarantine measures.

It has been a year already since the fight against the COVID-19 started. The total cases recorded in the Philippines has already surpassed the one (1) million mark following a spike in the cases in the first quarter of 2021.

Currently, the national government is in the process of procuring COVID-19 vaccines and vaccinating the citizens in the pursuit for a population protection. The target is to vaccinate 70 million Filipinos to achieve the population protection.

The vaccination of the senior citizens, those who have co-morbidities, and the essential workers have also started already. The vaccine brands that arrived in the country include the AstraZeneca, the Sinovac, and the Pfizer.

Recently, there were confusions regarding requiring a negative COVID-19 test result for tourists. The Department of Health (DOH) put an end to the said confusion.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III expressed that the negative COVID-19 test will again be required for tourists when traveling. According to the agency, following the implementation of the “status quo” and the resumption of the said requirement, the local government units may require tourists entering their cities of a negative COVID-19 test result.
