Dog Suffers Injury After Being Hit on Head by Man Who Went Into Rage
A young dog was left crying and shaking on the ground after being struck on the head by a man who went into a rage in Manila.
On Sunday afternoon (June 22, 2025), a dog named “Daga” suffered injuries after being hit by a man who ran amok in Barangay 900, Sta. Ana, Manila. According to reports from the barangay, the dog was not the man’s original target but was unfortunately caught in the middle of his anger.
Barangay officials explained that the man first fought with his father and cousin. In the heat of his anger, after hitting his cousin, he turned to the innocent dog and struck it with a hard object made of metal alloy.
“Meron pong dumating na concerned citizen sa barangay na meron daw pong nag-aamok. Noong sinilip ko po sa cctv namin, may kaaway nga siya parang may pinalo. Bigla po niyang pinagpapalo daw ‘yung aso, noong nakita po na parang wala na siyang malay,” Barangay 900 punong tanod Jhun Katigbak said.
A concerned resident immediately informed the barangay. CCTV footage confirmed the commotion, including the moment when the dog was repeatedly hit until it appeared unconscious.
“Daga,” an eight-month-old male aspin (asong Pinoy), is now in critical condition. His owner, who is also the suspect’s cousin, was in shock and couldn’t believe what he saw. The dog’s head is now soft in some parts, and he struggles to stand without falling.
The family fears the injury may have caused a skull fracture. The family is determined to press charges against the man. Barangay officers stressed that violence against animals will not be tolerated in their area and that anyone who harms animals will face legal consequences.
The suspect refused to face the media but claimed he acted while half-asleep. He is now set to undergo inquest proceedings and may be charged under the Animal Welfare Act for his cruel actions.
Authorities remind the public that animals have rights and deserve protection.
