Rita Avila Urges Leni Robredo to Skip the 2028 Presidential Race
RITA AVILA – Veteran actress Rita Avila did not hold back as she expressed why she hopes Mayor Leni Robredo will no longer seek the presidency in the next national elections.
Actress Rita Avila recently shared her thoughts regarding the possibility of former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo running again for president in the 2028 elections. Her statement came amid renewed calls from Kakampinks and supporters of the Leni-Kiko tandem urging Robredo to seek the country’s highest position once more.
In a Facebook post published on May 15, Avila expressed that she would rather see Robredo avoid another presidential bid to preserve the peaceful life she now enjoys after her defeat in the 2022 presidential elections. According to the actress, the country’s current political situation is already chaotic, and she believes Robredo no longer has anything left to prove as a public servant.
“Hindi ko alam ang gusto ni Mayor Leni Robredo pero sana wag na shang tumakbo bilang Presidente sa 2028.”
“Mapayapa na ang buhay niya ngayon,” can be read in his post.
Avila also questioned why Robredo should take on the burden of fixing problems that may be left behind by current leaders.
“Para ano para saluhin nya ang mga problemang iiwan sa kanya ng mga nakaupo ngayon? Siya pa pagbibintangan ng mga hunghang,” she said
The actress went on to express disappointment toward some Filipino voters who she believes continue to reject leaders capable of bringing good governance and progress to the country.
“Marami pa ring walang kwentang Pilipino na ayaw naman ng maayos na Presidente at maayos na bansa.”
“Eh di maghirap tayo nang maghirap, magkagulo nang magkagulo, maghari-harian ang mga goons.”
She further warned about the possible consequences of poor leadership and voter choices.
“Baka pag nasa lusak na tayo, may mga dumilat. Yun nga lang, huli na. Lunod na. Ginusto nyo yan eh.”
“Wag na natin idamay si Mayor Leni. Naipakita na niya ang kabutihan, kasipagan at katalinuhan nya. Wala na siyang papatunayan pa. Yung mga nagmamagaling, ano na?” she even teased some voters.
Robredo previously ran for president in 2022 but lost to Bongbong Marcos, who currently serves as the country’s president. Despite the loss, many supporters continue to encourage her to return to the presidential race in 2028, especially with Vice President Sara Duterte being seen as a possible strong contender.
However, Robredo has earlier stated that she has no plans to run for president in 2028 and is instead focused on serving as mayor of Naga City.
