Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Criticizes PBBM, Romualdez, Co Anew
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President was asked what bread she, Pres. Bongbong Marcos. former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and Zaldy Co are.
The Filipino populace witnessed a souring relationship between Pres. Marcos and Vice Pres. Duterte when she resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) in 2024. She also left the Marcos Cabinet.
Amid the Malacañang calling her DepEd stint as allegedly “a complete failure”, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly tried to make her stay. She claimed that she has both personal and work reasons for leaving DepEd and the Marcos Cabinet.
The Vice President criticized Marcos Jr. several times amid their rift. She also apologized to the Filipino people for endorsing the now-President in 2022. They ran as running mates under the platform of unity.
Aside from Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also criticized then-House Speaker Martin Romualdez and then-Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co. According to her, they are allegedly the only people who have control of the national budget.
Both Romualdez and Co were tagged in the flood control issue. They denied the accusation and the investigation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) formed upon the order of Marcos Jr. is still ongoing.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte joined a news forum amid the World Pandesal Day celebration. She was asked what bread she, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and Zaldy Co are. According to the Vice President, Marcos Jr., Romualdez, and Co are not bread for alleged reasons.
“Definitely, hindi sila tinapay dahil hindi makain ‘yung ugali nila at hindi makain ‘yung korupsyon nila,” the Vice President said.
Amid the flood control issue in the country, Zaldy Co has yet to return and face the accusations against him. Based on a report on Inquirer, the Department of Foreign Affairs denied “lawyering” for Co amid the calls for the cancellation of his passport. The DFA explained that there is a process for it.
With regards to her, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she is an “ensaymada” if she is a bread. It is a sweet, brioche-style bread that has butter, grated cheese, and sugar on top. It is the favorite bread of many Filipinos.
“Paborito ko ang ensaymada, pinaglihi ako sa ensaymada. So kung ako ay tinapay, ako ay isang ensaymada,” she expressed.
At the news forum, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also claimed that the Marcos Jr. administration was allegedly attacking her even amid her DepEd stint.
