PAGASA Says Typhoon Gorio and Southwest Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Gorio and Habagat will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (August 12, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Severe Tropical Storm Gorio and Habagat will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA Severe Tropical Storm Gorio intensified into a typhoon, while the Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rains over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Typhoon Gorio was last spotted 745 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 150. It is moving in a westward direction.

GORIO’s current track forecast shows a low chance of it directly affecting the country within the next three days. However, in the event of a further southward shift in the forecast track, hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal over Extreme Northern Luzon is not ruled out,” PAGASA said.

The typhoon is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday evening (August 13, 2025).

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rain showers over the western sections of MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The rest of Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, as well as the rest of the country, will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA
