Man Climbs Electric Post in Quiapo After Family Argument
A man suddenly climbed an electric post in along the northbound lane of Quezon Boulevard Quiapo, Manila after a family argument.
On Friday evening (July 10, 2025), a man climbed an electric post around 11:00 p.m catching the attention of passing motorists and nearby residents.
According to Barangay 391 official Mac Mateo, the man was reportedly upset over a personal issue involving his live-in partner. He was said to be emotional and angry after finding out that his partner might be seeing someone else.
“Bale nag amok siya… from baba umakyat sa taas dahil ang nirereklamo nga niya yung kinakasama niya o yung asawa niya, meron daw ibang karelasyon,” Mateo said.
The family problem triggered him to act out and climb the post. Barangay officials and police officers quickly responded to the scene. They tried to calmly talk to the man, assuring him that whatever he was going through, they were there to help.
At first, the man was hesitant and afraid, especially when he saw the police. But responders remained patient and careful not to alarm him further.
As the crowd started to clear and things calmed down, the man slowly became more cooperative. After about an hour, around midnight, he finally agreed to come down from the post safely.
“Nung nalaman namin syempre pumunta kami… Takot siya kasi sa mga pulis… Nakipag-communicate kami sa kanya na kahit anong problema niya na pinagdadaanan, pwede namin siya tulungan, kumbaga makipag-usap siya,” Mateo added.
Once on the ground, he was brought to Barangay 308, where he lives. Some of his family members and local officials were already there waiting for him. They took time to speak with him privately, hoping to understand his situation better and offer support.

The man and his relatives chose not to give any statements to the media. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident, and the man is now safe and back with his family.
Authorities reminded the public to seek help and talk to someone during stressful times instead of putting themselves in danger.
