SUV Driver Involved in Hit-and-Run Incident Surrenders to Authorities, According to HPG
The SUV driver involved in a hit-and-run incident along South Luzon Expressway has surrendered to authorities.
According to the Highway Patrol Group, the driver of the SUV involved in a hit-and-run incident that injured an HPG member on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) has surrendered to authorities.
HPG Chief Brigadier General Rommel Batangan identified the driver only by the alias “Man.” Following his surrender, the individual was brought to the HPG headquarters for proper documentation and processing as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities said the suspect’s surrender came after several days of intelligence-driven and backtracking operations conducted by the HPG. The investigation began immediately after the incident on June 6 and continued until June 9, eventually leading authorities to the driver involved.
Aside from the surrender of the suspect, authorities were also able to locate and recover the SUV linked to the incident. The vehicle was found at a repair shop in Antipolo City and was immediately taken into HPG custody.
Investigators are now documenting and examining the vehicle as part of the evidence that may be used in the case.
The HPG has also taken steps to coordinate with the Land Transportation Office regarding the matter. A formal recommendation has been submitted requesting the revocation of the driver’s license.
Authorities also asked that an alarm status be placed on the SUV while the investigation remains ongoing.
Meanwhile, legal charges are now being prepared against the suspect. These include abandonment of one’s own victim and reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries and damage to property.
The filing of these cases is expected to proceed as investigators complete the necessary documentation and evidence gathering.
The HPG has assured the public that the investigation will continue, and that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the case.
