Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos rejected his courtesy resignation amid the order among the Cabinet secretaries.

On Thursday, Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered all his Cabinet secretaries a courtesy resignation as he wants to recalibrate his administration. The decision of the Chief Executive came after his realizations on the results of the 2025 Elections.

According to Pres. Marcos, based on the 2025 Elections’ outcome, the Filipinos are disappointed by the services provided by the government. He also claimed that the people are tired of the politicking of those who are in the government.

Marcos Jr. stressed that it is time that the government aligns with the expectations of the Filipinos. His call for a courtesy resignation gained different reactions from the people but many of his Cabinet secretaries immediately responded to the call.

Malacañang vowed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will immediately act on the courtesy resignations. The Palace also assured that the services provided by the government will not be affected by the recalibration of the Marcos administration.

Recently, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos refused his courtesy resignation. Based on a report on Manila Standard, the ES revealed that Marcos Jr. told him he still has his full backing.

As far as I am concerned, the President declined the courtesy resignation that I tendered… This morning, he communicated to me that I have his full backing for as long as I wish to work for him,” Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said.

Based on the report, Bersamin said that Marcos Jr.’s gesture “is a sign of his manifestation of his full trust and confidence” in him. He also denied the rumors that the recalibration was targeting to remove him from office.

“All Cabinet members, presidential advisers, and other presidential appointees are always subject to the will of the President. As soon as the President wants to replace us or remove us, we will comply. We are just like ordinary soldiers, we are soldiers,” he said.

According to Malacañang, the courtesy resignation is an opportunity for the Cabinet secretaries to prove their place in the Marcos administration. Palace press officer Atty. Claire Castro stressed that lazy and corrupt officials have no place in the Marcos admin.
