Elderly Woman Loses Her Life After Being Hit by Tricycle
An elderly woman lost her life after a tragic road accident in Barangay Bancal, Guagua, Pampanga.
CCTV footage showed the 77-year-old victim, Priscilla Tungol, sitting at a small store around 9:00 a.m. She was wearing an orange shirt and had gone there to collect photocopied documents related to her senior citizen requirements. After receiving the papers, she left the area together with a friend.
However, just moments after walking away from the store, the elderly woman suddenly lost her balance and fell onto the road. At the same time, a tricycle was passing through the area. Sadly, the vehicle struck her and reportedly ran over her after she fell.
Emergency responders and concerned individuals immediately brought her to a hospital in Lubao, Pampanga. She was later transferred to another hospital in Guagua for further treatment. Despite the efforts of medical workers, her condition remained critical.
After fighting for her life for three days, she eventually passed away due to the severe injuries she suffered in the accident.
As authorities continued their investigation, they learned that the tricycle driver allegedly stopped communicating with the victim’s family after the incident. Reports indicated that there had been an initial understanding that he would help shoulder the victim’s needs, but this reportedly did not happen.
“Napagalaman natin na yung driver po, hindi na po siya nakipagcooperate po. Doon sa intial agreement nila na tutulungan itong victim so ngayon po sa kasalukuyan, nasa Office of the Prosecutor na po yung family ni Ma’am Priscilla at tinutulungan ng kapulisan natin na magfile mg complaint po,” Police Lt.Col Jaime Edejer, chief of Guagua police said.
The family has since sought legal assistance and is being supported by local authorities in filing a complaint. They are hoping that accountability will be established and that justice will be served for their loved one.
Aside from coping with their loss, the family is also struggling with hospital expenses that reportedly reached more than P300,000. To help ease the burden, the provincial government provided financial assistance.
Authorities are expected to file a case of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide against the tricycle driver in connection with the fatal accident.
