DSWD BURIAL CASH ASSISTANCE REQUIREMENTS – Here are the documents required in applying for burial cash aid to the social welfare department.

Death is one of the truths of life. It will come to each of us. Every deceased have to be buried and there are entities that want to ensure that each one gets a dignified farewell. One of these entities is the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

More popularly called DSWD, the social welfare department launched the DSWD Burial Cash Assistance to make sure that the poor and those who are financially-challenged in times of a death of an immediate family member has something to turn to.

The Burial Cash Assistance offer is under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program or the AICS. Under the offer, the immediate family of the deceased may be granted up to Php 10,000 to help cover the different funeral costs.

In applying for the DSWD Burial Cash Assistance, there are requirements that must be prepared and submitted to the social welfare department. Here are the documents required by the government institution:

  • valid ID
  • Death Certificate which may or may not indicate a civil registry number
  • Certification or document from any of the following:
    • Hospital
    • Doctor of physician in charge
    • Imam (for the Moros)
    • Tribal Chieftain or leader of indigenous peoples
  • Funeral Contract or document of agreement with the funeral home
  • Statement of Account
  • Barangay Certification or any proof from the barangay proving that the family of the deceased has debts left due to the funeral expenses or the materials used in the making of the coffin
  • Promissory Note or Certificate of Balance
  • Transfer Permit if the remains of the deceased will be transferred to another province

Aside from the cash aid offer, the Department of Social Welfare and Department also offers a DSWD Food Assistance under the AICS.
