Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Negros Oriental, September 4, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.3 magnitude quake in Negros Oriental today, September 4, 2023.

Following the 5.5 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. The quake hit Negros Oriental. According to the agency, it has a magnitude of 4.3.

The earthquake today that struck Negros Oriental, Monday, September 4, 2023, at 05:23 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Basay.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Negros Oriental was located at 08.79°North, 122.28°East – 079 km South 30° West of Basay. It had a depth of focus of 029 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was logged as per the bulletin as well.
