PAGASA Says Southwesterly Windflow and Frontal System to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Southwesterly Windflow and the frontal system will bring rains over some parts of the country.
On Wednesday (May 24, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The Southwesterly Windflow and the frontal system will affect the country’s weather condition.
The Southwesterly Windflow will be affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The frontal system will affect extreme Northern Luzon.
Super Typhoon Mawar has been last spotted 2,215 kilometers east of the Visayas. It has sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
“Base sa pinakahuling datos natin, posible po na ang magiging track ng Bagyong Mawar ay papunta po sa bahagi ng Taiwan, maaaring hindi ito mag landfall, pupunta na sa bahagi ng Japan at maaari itong mag-recurve. Ito po ay isang scenario at maaari pang magbago,” Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said.
Badrina said that Mawar has a slim chance of making a landfall in the country. “Maliit pa din ang tiyansa na ito ay tumama sa kalupaan ng Pilipinas pero mas tintignan po natin na posible ito magtrigger ito ng pagpapalakas ng hanging habagat,” he added.
The frontal system will bring cloudy weather condition with rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. The southwesterly windflow and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition over Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and Palawan.
The southwesterly windflow and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Extreme northern Luzon will be moderate. The rest of Luzon as well as the remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to the weather bureau.
