PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Tuesday (May 23, 2023)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that southwesterly windflow will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Tuesday (May 23, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwesterly windflow will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that tropical cyclone Mawar was spotted 2,300 kilometers east of the Visayas outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It has maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 180 kph.

Mawar is moving northward at a speed of 10 kph and expected to enter the country’s vicinity by Friday or Saturday. It will be  given the local name “Betty” once it enters PAR.

The Southwesterly Windflow will be affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. It will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan.

Partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms is expected over Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather condition.

The weather agency has warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the entire country will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
