Vatican Issues Statement on Condition of Pope Francis Now amid Hospital Confinement

VATICAN – A medical staff spoke on the condition of Pope Francis who is currently confined at Gemelli Hospital.

The current head of the Roman Catholic Church across the globe is Pope Francis who is the supreme pontiff of the church for 10 years now. It is no secret to the public that the 86-year-old Pontiff has been dealing with several health issues in the recent years of his life.

When there are concerns about the Pope, Vatican releases statements for public information about the Supreme Pontiff. It is usually spokesman Matteo Bruni who speaks on the matters.

Recently, Vatican announced that Pope Francis was brought to a hospital in Rome by an ambulance. He had a general audience at St. Peter’s Square on Wednesday and it was supposed to be followed by a television interview but it was cancelled. The Supreme Pontiff was brought to Gemellin Hospital for a medical check-up.

According to Bruni, the Pope has been suffering from breathing difficulties in the recent days. He was diagnosed with infectious bronchitis and was advised to stay in the hospital for his medication.

Reportedly, Pope Francis went through a chest CT scan and some laboratory tests. His blood saturation was okay and no heart problem was detected. Based on a recent report of ABS-CBN News, in a statement of Vatican, the medical staff attending to the Pope said that there is improvement in the condition of the Supreme Pontiff.

The Pope was given antibiotics which resulted in “a marked improvement in his state of health”. He could be discharged from the hospital in the next days.
