Paul Soriano Bashed, Ogie Diaz Says “Pairalin Pagiging Humble”

This is what Ogie Diaz said amid bashing against Paul Soriano following his claims about his film.

PAUL SORIANO – Film director Paul Soriano faces critical comments and Ogie Diaz said something amid the bashing.

In a previous article, the film director and appointed Presidential Adviser for Creative Communications received some bashing due to his statements about movies and the recent Metro Manila Film Festival. According to him, the reason why local films are not striving in the cinemas is because of the high ticket prices and competition with international movies.

He said,Ā ā€œThe only reason why I think there is only one or two big [hits] is because the general public can only afford to watch one film, or maybe two at most, so thatā€™s why the other five or six films donā€™t get seen.ā€

Soriano is the director of “My Teacher”, one of the official entries of the MMFF starring his wifeĀ Toni Gonzaga. Based on an unofficial ranking, the movie of the “most powerful celebrity”, as he has claimed, did not do well. It also did not make it to the list of top earners.

To recall, he once claimed that his wife is the “most powerful celebrity” of today.

Speaking about this in a new video, Ogie Diaz expressed that he could clearly understand from his perspective why Paul claimed the statement about his wife. Unarguably, being the husband, he must be the number one supporter of his wife.

However, the way he said it did not sit well with some people. His claims gave them the impression of his arrogance and thinking highly of themselves.

Some people online were mocking his statement about films as it was seemingly explaining why the film he directed did not turn out great in the film festival. There were also people who sarcastically commented about the non-impact of the “most powerful” status of his wife as he has claimed.

Diaz shared that just like what the other people in the industry have said, he should’ve just waited for someone to say it and not him.

“Sana daw, una, hindi na sinabi ni Paul yun. Pangalawa, sana daw hinintay ni Paul Soriano na ibang tao na lang ang nagsabi at hindi siya bilang asawa. Pangatlo, sana raw habang nasa posisyon sila, habang sila yung may powers, dapat daw mas pinairal nila yung humility,” Diaz shared which he also agrees.

According to Diaz, people who did not like his arrogance will find ways to put their feet back on the ground.
