Suspect Who Stole Numerous Water Meters in Pasig Now Behind Bars

The 30-year-old suspect behind repeated theft of water meters in Pasig City, has been arrested after months of complaints from residents.

According to barangay officials, around 50 homes have lost their water meters over the past three months. The incidents caused concern in the community as reports of missing meters continued to increase almost every day.

Residents said the thefts created serious inconvenience because their water supply was disrupted. Many families woke up expecting a temporary water interruption, only to discover that their water meters had been removed.

Without a meter, they were unable to receive a normal water supply and had to rely on neighbors for water.

Some residents shared that they were forced to buy water from nearby households, paying for each bucket just to meet their daily needs. The situation became especially difficult for families with children and students who needed water for bathing, cooking, and other household activities.

The suspect was finally caught after being seen on CCTV once again taking water meters along M.H. Del Pilar Street on July 18, 2026. Following the footage, the barangay security force closely monitored his movements.

Early in the morning of July 19, authorities successfully arrested the suspect while he was allegedly carrying a sack containing stolen items. Barangay officials recognized him based on the clothing seen in the CCTV footage.

More than 20 water meters were recovered from the suspect. Investigators learned that many of the stolen meters had already been sold to junk shops for about P480 per kilogram.

Authorities also discovered that the suspect had previously been linked to illegal drug activities and had reportedly been in and out of jail in the past.

The man is now under the custody of the Pasig City Police and is facing theft charges. He has not yet issued a public statement regarding the allegations.

Authorities are currently determining whether the two suspects worked together as the investigation continues.
