Another Oil Price Hike Expected This Week, DOE Says
FUEL PRICE UPDATE – The Department of Energy announced that Filipino motorists will face another oil price hike this week.
On Tuesday (July 28, 2026), various oil companies in the country are set to implement another major increase in pump prices.
Based on DOE’s projections, diesel will see the biggest adjustment with an increase of P7.32 per liter. Gasoline prices are expected to rise by P6.80 per liter, while kerosene will go up by P4.22 per liter.
Unioil has already announced its new rates, and other petroleum companies are expected to follow with similar adjustments.
The latest increase comes as global oil prices continue to react to developments in the Middle East. Concerns over possible supply shortages have remained high as tensions in the region persist.
Industry officials have also pointed to the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes, as a major factor affecting fuel prices.
It will be the fifth straight week of fuel price increases, adding more pressure on drivers, public transport operators, and businesses that depend heavily on fuel. Since June 30, diesel prices have already increased by a total of P26.64 per liter. Gasoline has gone up by P13.30 per liter, while kerosene has risen by P21.07 per liter.
According to the DOE, diesel may eventually reach the P100-per-liter level if global oil prices continue to move upward at the same pace. Some premium diesel products are already being sold at around P93 per liter, placing them closer to that mark.
Last week, gasoline stations agreed to spread price hikes to help reduce the immediate impact on consumers.
Meanwhile, the DOE has expressed support for a proposal to raise the fuel discount for public utility jeepneys and UV Express vehicles from P10 to P15 per liter.
