Teachers Group Holds Rally on First Day of Classes

Teachers Group Says PH School Not Ready for In-Person Classes

TEACHERS GROUP – The ACT Teachers Philippines held a rally on the first day of classes before reporting to school.

Today, August 22, 2022, is the first day of the school year 2022-2023 as set by the Department of Education (DepEd). It is has been more than two (2) years that schools are implementing distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under distance learning, the lessons and classroom instructions are delivered through online classes and modules. Following the shifting of a new administration in the education department, the new DepEd admin decided to resume the face-to-face classes.

DepEd aims that by November, full in-person classes will resume. From August to October 31, schools may implement a mixture of the distance learning and the face-to-face classes.

According to DepEd, 90% of the schools in the country are ready for the in-person classes. These include state colleges and universities.

Before reporting to their respective schools today, the members of a teachers group held a rally. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the members of ACT Teachers Philippines believe that the country is not yet ready for the face-to-face classes and the government must make sure of the safety of the students and teachers.

According to the report, the members of the teachers group brought along with them the things that they need in school like the cleaning aids, hygiene kits, and printers which they believe DepEd must provide. The rally was held in front of Mendiola Peace Arc.

The rally did not last long because the teachers had to be in their respective schools for the opening of the classes. More updates may be posted soon.
