Chiz Escudero was asked about Bongbong Marcos’s survey status
Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero received criticisms for his “unclear” stand when asked about presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos.
Escudero is running for senator, independently. In a recent interview, based on the report from Rappler, the Governor was asked to confirm the statement of BBM’s camp saying that he had these words regarding the former Senator and the numbers in the elections survey.
“If numbers in surveys will not change by next month, chances are Bonget will win it,” Marcos’s campaign PR said that these words came from Escudero. When asked about this, the governor affirmed that he said this. ”If survey results are maintained, Marcos might just go on to win,” the Governor said.
Then, Chiz Escudero was asked about the expectation of people that he should make a stand against Bongbong Marcos because he is the author of the Martial Law Compensation Act.
Escudero’s answered, “Karapatan nilang isipin ‘yun tulad ng karapatan ko rin gawin kung ano ang tingin ko tama. Kanya-kanya naman siguro kami.” He added that one cannot force the other to believe what he or she believes.
On the other hand, the Governor said that he is the recovery of Marcos ill-gotten wealth but he said that Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) must have better accounting. “Ang pinakamalungkot na mangyayari sa atin ay double dead na karne. Ninakaw na nga, nanakawing muli,” the senatorial aspirant said.
Gov. Chiz Escudero was also asked about his critics pushing him out of the Leni-Kiko tandem’s senatorial slate because he did not endorse them. He said that it is the right of anyone to choose who they will vote. The Governor also explained that when VP Leni Robredo said that he will be adopted in their team, no condition was asked and he was not told to endorse the Leni-Kiko tandem.
Because of this, the Sorsogon Governor received criticisms. Here are some of the comments against him on Twitter.
