PAGASA Says Shear Line to Affect PH Weather
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the shear line would bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over some parts of the country.
On Monday (January 17, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The shear line and amihan will continue to affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that the Shear Line will be affecting the eastern section of Mindanao while Northeast Monsoon will be affecting the rest of the country.
“Ito pong shear line ang nakakaapekto dito po sa buong Mindanao. Samantala, northeast monsoon o amihan ang umiiral naman sa Luzon at Visayas,” Pagasa weather specialist Samuel Duran said.
Partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated light rains is expected over Bicol region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Northern Samar, entire Visayas, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan including Kalayaan Islands.
The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy weather condition with light rains over the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya and Aurora while partly cloudy skies to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Abra, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.
The shear line will bring similar weather condition over the region of Mindanao. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated light rains.
PAGASA also advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides during moderate to heavy rains.
“Pinag-iingat po natin ‘yung mga kababayan po nating mangingisda lalong-lalo na ‘yung gumagamit ng maliliit na sasakyang pandagat, iwasan po munang pumalaot,” Duran said.
The coastal water condition over eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be moderate to rough.
