PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon and Shear Line Will Affect PH Weather

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the shear line and the northeast monsoon will affect the weather condition over parts of the country.

On Saturday (January 15, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The shear line and Amihan will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the Shear Line will be affecting the eastern section of Mindanao while Northeast Monsoon would affect the rest of the country.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy weather condition with light rains over the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province and Aurora Islands while partly cloudy skies to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Abra, Benguet, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.

Camarines Norte, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, SOCCSKSARGEN, Davao Region, and BARMM will also experience the same weather condition due to the shear line.

The weather agency warned the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated light rains is expected over Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, the rest of Bicol region, Visayas, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan including Kalayaan Islands due to Amihan.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather condition.

“Sa kasalukuyan wala tayong binabantayan na low pressure area o bagyo sa loob ng PAR (Philippine area of responsibility), at itong shear line ay nakakaapekto pa rin sa eastern section ng Mindanao,” Pagasa weather specialist Samuel Duran said.
