Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, the said “Stay at Home” policy for the unvaccinated individuals is eyed for a nationwide expansion by some government aides. National Task Force Against COVID-19 chief implementer Vince Dizon lauded the said move of the Metro Manila mayors.

According to Dizon, he has talked with Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr., and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, and Department of Health (DOH) Sec. Francisco Duque III about it. They are recommending the nationwide implementation of the mobility restrictions for the unvaccinated individuals even in areas where there is currently no surge in the cases.

The government aide further stressed that it is just a matter of time before the Omicron variant will spread across the nation. As of this writing, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has yet to comment on the proposal.

Both Duque and Lorenzana are currently under quarantine now following their isolation to individuals who tested positive for COVID-19. The government continues to encourage the Filipinos to get vaccinated with Pres. Duterte warning those who did not get their jabs that the government will not help them once they get infected with the virus.
