JR Oclarit’s “Leaves” cover in Tawag Ng Tanghalan receives “perfect” responses.
TAWAG NG TANGHALAN – Defending champ JR Oclarit sings “Leaves” of Ben&Ben and his “perfect” performance made hosts and judges emotional.
“Its Showtime‘s” Tawag Ng Tanghalan has finally returned to the noontime show with a brand new season. And just recently, TNT’s defending champion JR Oclarit sang the hit song of Ben&Ben entitled “Leaves” and his cover draw emotional responses from the hosts and judges.
Louie Ocampo, who sits as the “punong hurado” or head judge, says this to him after his flawless performance, “It was perfect! Ang galing mo. Your sensitivity, ‘yung nuances ng dynamics ng boses mo, I love it. I really love it. It’s a new day, it’s a new challenge, and a new win for you.”
He and his challenger Mariam Raceles, who sang APO Hiking Society’s “Mahirap Magmahal Ng Syota Ng Iba”, gave the judges a hard time in deciding on who to win. They have given a good fight and Vice Ganda even said that they did great for giving the judges a “good problem”. How it went for the judges only proved that they both did well.
Vice even quipped, “Nag-e-enjoy lang kami, ta’s babasagin mo ‘yung trip namin! Napaiyak ako! Ang pangit mo kabarkada.”
One of the judges, Ogie Alcasid, also went visibly emotional as he watched Oclarit’s performance of “Leaves”. He got affected because the song is a personal favorite of his wife, music icon Regine Velasquez.
Oclarit won and he’s a step closer to being included in the semifinals.
