PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Tuesday (September 7)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Typhoon Jolina whipped Samar while four areas have been placed under signal no. 3.

On Tuesday (September 7, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Jolina would continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Typhoon Jolina has been last been spotted over the coastal waters of Sto. Niño, Samar. Jolina has maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 180 kph.

The typhoon has made landfall twice today in Daram town and the town of Sto Niño both in Samar. It is expected to move towards Samar Sea and pass to the island municipalities of Samar and the northern coast of Biliran.

The tropical cyclone is expected to emerge over the West Philippine Sea on Thursday morning (September 9) and would re-intensify in the afternoon.

Jolina would bring stormy weather condition over Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas. Rainy and gusty winds are also expected over Southern Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, and Northern Cebu.

Cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, and the rest of Mimaropa, Calabarzon, and Visayas due to the typhoon.

The localized thunderstorms would bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers over the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency also advised the residents in the affected area to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the weather bureau also warned the sea travelers that sea travel is risky for all types of sea crafts especially for the small ones due to the moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions.
