PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Monday (September 6)

The state weather bureau PAGASA has raised signal no. 1 in the following area due to tropical depression Jolina.

On Monday (September 6, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The low-pressure area spotted of Eastern Samar has intensified into a tropical depression.

PAGASA said that Jolina has been last spotted at 300 km East Southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar or 310 km East of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. It has Maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Eastern Samar in Visayas, and Dinagat Islands, Siargao Islands and Bucas Grande Islands in Mindanao have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1. The weather disturbance would bring moderate to heavy rains in these areas.

These areas are also expected to experience isolated to scattered flash flooding and rain-induced landslides. Strong winds with occasional gusts would prevail or expected within 36 hours.

The localized thunderstorms would also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Kalinga, Apayao and Aurora.

Cloudy weather conditions are expected over Central and the rest of Eastern Visayas while the rest of Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro would have partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated rainshowers.

The weather agency also warned the seafarers that sea travel remains risky due to the moderate to rough coastal water condition.
