Severe Tropical Storm Domeng Brings Rain to Several Parts of Philippines

PAGASA Says Severe Tropical Storm Domeng to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

Severe Tropical Storm Domeng is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to several parts of the Philippines.

On Saturday (May 30, 2026), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update as of 11:00 am. Severe Tropical Storm Domeng continues to move over the Philippine Sea.

Domeng was located about 875 kilometers east of Northern Luzon. The storm slightly intensified, carrying maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching up to 125 kilometers per hour. It was moving northwestward at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA said Domeng is expected to strengthen further and may reach typhoon category by Saturday night or early Sunday morning. The storm is expected to remain far from land and is unlikely to make landfall in the Philippines. It is also expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by June 1.

Even though the center of the storm remains far from the country, its trough is already affecting several areas. Residents in the Bicol Region, Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Cagayan, Quezon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar may experience cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms.

The weather agency also warned that Domeng could enhance the southwest monsoon in the coming days. Because of this, heavier rains are expected to affect parts of MIMAROPA and Western Visayas beginning Sunday.

Local authorities are reminding residents to stay updated on the latest weather advisories and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides. Fishermen and those planning sea travel are also advised to monitor weather conditions closely before heading out.

While Domeng is not expected to directly hit the country, its effects may still be felt across several regions. Weather officials continue to monitor the storm closely as it moves northwestward over the Philippine Sea.
