Raymond Gutierrez shared his thoughts after he shared his story
What happened after TV host Raymond Gutierrez had his much talked about coming out as gay in a recent magazine interview?
Raymond finally shared his story highlighting his true self after several years of hiding what he truly feels. The twin brother of matinee idol Richard Gutierrez proudly announced that he is a member of the LGBTQA+ community.
With this, he struck with pride the mean comments he used to receive before like the tag “ang baklang kapatid ni Richard Gutierrez”. His story of opening up about his gender preference garnered admiration from many people. Raymond’s family and friends also showed support for him.
However, there were still those who chose to mock him and disregarding the courage that he should muster in order to open up about this aspect of his personal life.
On the other hand, positive comments have been raining over Raymond Gutierrez after his coming out. This is what he featured in his recent Instagram post.
“My old self would be very proud. Truly grateful and still feeling a bit overwhelmed with the outpouring of support I’ve been getting the last few days,” he said.
He admitted that he had apprehensions that it might be too late to share his story with the public. He is now 37 years old and he has been in the entertainment industry since he and Richard were just toddlers and they re-entered the industry when they were 19 years old.
However, thinking about this possibility that his story might do to others, took away the apprehensions. “But I realized it’s not a question of when but why. To this day members of the LGBTQ+ community are discriminated upon in the workplace, being bullied in their communities, or even violently killed simply by being themselves,” Raymond Gutierrez shared.
If what he shared will spread awareness, the TV host said that he can surely say that he used his platform in a good way. He is also hopeful that people in their community may also have a different outlook after knowing his story.
