LANY Congratulates Hidilyn Diaz For Historic Olympic Gold Win
LANY – Filipina athlete Hidilyn Diaz received praise from the American band LANY after she earned the Philippines’ first ever Olympic gold medal.
Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won the gold medal in the women’s 55kg weightlifting event at Tokyo Olympics beating Liao Qiuyun, China’s world record holder. She makes everyone proud of her achievement.
The 30-year-old pride of Zamboanga City is expected to take home a cash windfall of more than P40 million for her historic victory. The internet stopped for a moment to recognize her hard work to become the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist.

Filipino celebrities were quick to post their tributes for Hidilyn Diaz. Anne Curtis, Bela Padilla, Alex Gonzaga, and Maine Mendoza congratulated the Pinay athlete on social media.
Jinkee Pacquiao, the wife of fighting Senator Manny Pacquiao, also showed how proud she was of the athlete. However, she accidentally shared the wrong Philippine flag emoji.

The members of the American synth-pop band LANY also congratulated Hidilyn Diaz on her win. Jake Goss, Charles Leslie Priest, and Paul Jason Klein posted their congratulatory messages for the weightlifter on their respective IG accounts. They are the band behind the hit songs “Malibu Nights” and “ILYSB.”
“Congrats to @hidilyndiaz and the Philippines (who have been so unbelievable to my band) on [your] first ever gold medal,” Klein said. His post was accompanied by a photo of Hidilyn during the prestigious international game.

LANY’s guitarist/keyboardist Les Priest also used the same photo when he extended his congratulations to Hidilyn Diaz. He wrote, “Congrats @hidilyndiaz. Philippines’ [first] GOLD.”

Drummer Jake Goss described Hidilyn’s victory as “history.” He even posted these words in Filipino, “History. Mahal Kita Sobra, Philippines!”
