Metro Manila Mayors See Another Possible COVID-19 Spike due to Delta Variant
METRO MANILA MAYORS – The local government units in Metro Manila told public and private hospitals to prepare for a possible spike of Delta cases.
The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is undeniably far from over as of now. New variants of the coronavirus disease were detected in several nations and there is this Delta variant which was found to be more transmissible.
The Delta variant was first recorded in India. It caused a spike in the COVID-19 cases in India and a devastating situation as hospitals ran out of medical supplies for the treatment of the patients. They reached their full capacities to the point of not anymore being able to accommodate some of the patients.
The Delta variant is tagged as the variant of concern now. Currently, Indonesia is suffering from another spike in their COVID-19 cases due to the said variant.
One of the nations that detected cases of the Delta variant is the Philippines. The Department of Health (DOH) previously confirmed a local transmission of the said COVID-19 variant.

The confirmations alarmed a lot of people in the country and urged preparations for another possible spike in the COVID-19 cases. Currently, travel ban for travelers from India, Indonesia, and several other nations continue in implementation.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Metro Manila mayors already told the private and public hospitals in their cities to prepare for a possible spike in the COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variant. Several cases have been confirmed in Luzon.
Amid the Metro Manila mayors asking the hospitals in their cities to prepare a possible Delta spike, the Sampaloc Hospital procured equipment that can help them in the treatment of more severe cases of COVID-19. Mayors told the hospitals to prepare COVID-19 wards as well.
