Sen. Rodante Marcoleta Brought to PNP General Hospital Shortly after Arrest
MARCOLETA – The detained Senator is set to undergo laboratory tests today after he was brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital yesterday shortly after he was arrested by the authorities.
Sen. Marcoleta is currently faced with a non-bailable plunder for allegedly receiving P75 million in campaign donation and not declaring it in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN). The case was filed by the office of the Ombudsman.

According to Ombudsman Boying Remulla, they cannot simply disregard the “admissions” of the Senator that he received a multi-million campaign donations. During the recent rally held by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) members in support for him, the Senator claimed that some of his donors are his friends who want to be anonymous.
Thousands of INC members previously rallied along EDSA after the Ombudsman announced the possible filing of a plunder case against the Senator. Some of his colleagues in the minority bloc also appeared at the said protest event.

On Monday, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was arrested by the authorities as confirmed by SILG Jonvic Remulla. According to the Interior Secretary, the Senator came to Sandiganbayan for the hearing of his motion to quash which was denied by the Court.

“Was he arrested or did he surrender? It was both. He went there voluntarily sa Sandiganbayan to file a motion to quash, subsequently when it was denied, we closed down the building, we arrived, we arrested him,” Remulla said.
Following his arrest, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for the booking procedures and medical examination. His mugshots were also taken.
However, shortly after his arrest, the Sen. Marcoleta was brought to the PNP General Hospital. It was after he complained of chest discomfort. His blood pressure was also reported high as per a report of News5.
The result of his medical examination is being awaited. Based on the report, if found fit, he will be brought back to the Sandiganbayan. According to SILG Sec. Remulla, the Senator may stay for one or two days at the PNP General Hospital. If found fit, he will be transferred to the Quezon City Jail in Payatas where he will be detained.

Prior to his arrest, Sen. Marcoleta stressed that he will not hide and he will face the law.
