A Filipino actress in needed for Spider-Man 3
Marvel is looking for a Filipino actress to play this supporting role in the Spider-Man 3 movie.
The Spider-Man is one of the well-loved movie franchises of Marvel and throughout the years, it has featured various actors. Currently, Tom Holland plays the titular role and Peter’s best friend in the movie series is Ned Leeds.
The said role being portrayed by Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon. Based on the article from GMA Entertainment, for part three of the movie series, the production is looking for an actress from the Philippines who will play the part relative with the role of Batalon.
Reportedly, this was posted on a US-based website The Direct: “casting a Filipina actress within the age range of 50-80 years old for a small supporting role” .
Write Aeron Mer Eclarinal said “Such casting would essentially imply that Ned has the same nationality as Batalon, further paying homage to the real-life background of the actor. More so, this serves as a positive step for Sony and Marvel Studios to further strengthen Asian representation in their films.”
As of the writing, there is no confirmation yet if Marvel already found a Filipino actress for the said role.
Meanwhile, for Spider-Man 3, it is expected that the movie will include an appearance by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The movie is still under production and is being targeted that this will be released in December 2021.
