In the latest update, the Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded 352,509 individuals flee their homes for evacuation following typhoon’s heavy downpour. It has left several deaths and injured numerous while others are missing. Aside from people, one main concern as well are the pets and animals who are as well struggling to live and save themselves. Celebrities call out pet owners to be responsible.

However, despite all the worries and concern of the people to victims, lambasted online are Kapuso broadcasters Arnold Clavio and Ali Sotto who laughed at a victims situations. In a clip that has been circulating online, it seems like they are asking the victim why she didn’t left her area already when she already know what happens every time there’s a typhoon.

Clavio asked, “Ba’t andiyan pa rin kayo na alam niyong lubog na kayo?” which was seconded by Sotto who said that they should have transferred. And many netizens have found these statements insensitive and lack empathy for a fellow.

They were disgusted how it reeked privilege. Some argued that it’s a legit question only that it’s not empathetic knowing that the victim probably doesn’t have the means to buy new property for their safety.

And here are some of the reactions of the netizens to based on Twitter:

The so called “news tv”.

At times like these, public personalities like you should exercise tact and show sensitivity if compassion is not inherent.

This video reeks of privilege and I am extremely disgusted.

instead of showing some empathy to the victim u still have the guts to laugh.
