Surigao Del Norte Hit by Earthquake with 3.6 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 3.6 magnitude quake in Surigao Del Norte, July 10, 2020.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advises the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.

Recently, a quake has hit a part of Surigao Del Norte. At 02:31 pm, July 10, 2020, General Luna was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6.

EARTHQUAKE

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Surigao Del Norte was located at 05.97°North, 126.37°East – 083 km South 23° East of Governor Generoso. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 019 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in a bulletin that there are no expected damages caused by the quake. Also, aftershocks are not expected of the said quake. No intensity was recorded of the said quake.
