Jake Cuenca had a rough start as an actor
Kapamilya actor Jake Cuenca revealed in a recent interview that in her first acting stint reached 50 takes.
Jake is one of the most recognized “kontrabida” actors in the Philippine entertainment industry these past few years. This goes to show that his versatility is an advantage, as he also played protagonist roles in the past.
However, the start of his acting career was quite challenging. Before reaching the caliber that he has now, Jake also started from being a newbie with little acting experience.

In a recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, based on the article in Bandera, Jake Cuenca recalled his first acting stint in the Kapuso network.
The actor admitted he felt goosebumps having the chance again to be at GMA, his original home network. “I was having goosebumps on the way here. Sabi ko nu’ng naglakad ako diyan, I remember being young, Tito Dougs (Douglas Quijano) my first manager,” Jake shared.
He also shared that he was not yet an actor when Douglas took him to the taping of the 90s sitcom Kool Ka Lang, featuring Richard Gutierrez, Joey Marquez, and Raymart Santiago.
His late talent manager introduced Jake to showbiz, and his first acting project was the defunct Kapuso youth-oriented show titled Click.

Jake revealed that his first scene was a disaster, as he had to repeat it 50 times. “First take ko, Take 50, Take 45, as in I could not do it. Hindi ko magawa. Yung kaba ko talagang…I remember being so nervous,” the actor shared.
Back then, he was already a commercial model, but he had no idea about acting for a TV show with longer lines, and how fast-paced things are.
On the other hand, he was grateful for that opportunity that helped him to reach where he is now. “It was definitely a pressure seat, but I will always be grateful for that kasi it made me a greater actor later on,” Jake Cuenca shared.
The Kapamilya actor also expressed how happy he is to reach his 25th year in the entertainment industry. “It’s my 25th year in showbiz, but I can really say na kahit kailan sa career ko, hindi lumaki ang ulo ko because of how I started in GMA 7,” Jake shared.
